About Akoya Medical

A direct response to something patients would rather not see.

Akoya Medical is a founder-led company developing a focused visual barrier for selected needle-based procedures.

Why Akoya exists

A narrow problem with a practical design response.

Through experience supporting clinical teams in breast-biopsy care, Akoya's team saw that direct visual exposure to needles and procedural activity could be an important part of some patients' discomfort. That observation became the starting point for Akoya Eye Shield.

Akoya Eye Shield uses an opaque lower region and conformable interface designed to limit visibility below eye level while leaving an upper viewing area open. It is presented as an optional patient-comfort product—not as a guarantee of reduced anxiety, prevention of fainting, or any other clinical outcome.
